Originally from China, Yuzhu Zheng merges an eastern sensibility with western understanding, taking images that capture the life and soul of space and forms. Zheng studied Urban Design in China and received a Masters degree in Architecture in New York in 2005. She has worked professionally as an architect in Virginia for 11 years before deciding to devote her full time to photography, which has taken her all over America, Europe, and Asia.

Having studied and worked in the field of Architectural Design, Zheng has a keen intuition and sensitivity for the careful hand that goes into each space and form, as well as an understanding of the processes that made a Design realized. Her passion for design, space, and form started at an early age in China when she began to notice the rapid changes in her environment. At first she wanted to create these changes, but gradually through her studies and work, she noticed a deeper affinity for her camera and capturing the spirit of spaces and form as truer means of self-expression.

With no former training in photography, her perspective benefits from that of an observer and designer. Not having had a formal and traditional training in photography has given Zheng her own style and insight, which she has been expanding for over 20 years. Zheng aspires to capture the voice of the designer and to work as a visual translator for everyday individuals.

Since 2016 Yuzhu Zheng started her own Studio and has been commissioned by design practices in the Virginia Area, Berlin, and China. Her focus is on Space and Form, but she is available to discuss other works that need a visual translation through her unique lens.

Based in Virginia and the Washington, D.C. area, she is available to travel.
